gjalla exhales, letting herself sink into him, into the warmth of his hold. the pain lingers, dull and insistent, but his presence steadies her. 

her breath slows, matching his, comforted by the rise and fall of his chest. “'fell…” a whisper, not in pain, not in fear—just needing to say his name. needing to know he is real. 

and then, at last, she lets sleep take her.
