When she awoke it was to inner fire — it'd snuck up on her while she slept, unexpected but perhaps not unwelcome. Still, it was inconvenient to have suddenly gone into heat when she was meant to be here on a visit.

She supposed it would just have to wait until business had been taken care of. She wandered south a ways, further from her relatives, and tipped her head back to give a welcoming howl.

She would always miss spending her beats with Adi, and raising his children with the hope that he would drop in or even stick around. As much as she'd hated it then, she would always be nostalgic for that time. But she'd gone through two years now of raising the children of strangers, and she'd found that it suited her quite well.

Why not try another year?

Easy settled in the grass and began to roll around, flattening herself a soft bed — and making quite a mess of her silvery pelt at the same time.
