"Yeah," Rannoch agreed; he had a creeping suspicion that Gannet would be disappointed in Liffey's decision. "I think that Gannet wants whats best for you." He reached forward and kissed Liffey's cheek, hoping that it would calm her nerves. 

It seemed as though their itinerary was immense, Rannoch knew that they would need to start acting on it if they wanted to leave before it started snowing again. An abnormal sensation of terror began to pour into his stomach but, he attempted to stay calm for his wife's benefit. Rannoch had no idea how the subsequent hours would play out, and he expected the worst. 

"Should we go and talk to everybody we need to?" he asked and pressed himself closer to Liffey; Rannoch needed to find a way to clam his racing heart, and he hoped his wife's touch would do just that.
