The coywolf’s large ears swiveled toward the sound of someone calling to her. She was currently gazing into one of the tide pools, searching for more snacks to eat. It was harder to do this in the dark, and took more concentration, so she took her time in looking up at the male. A small fish darted about in the water. She watched it with her eyes only, not moving her head, and then quickly snapped it up into her jaws and swallowed it. It was hardly a mouthful, but she felt pride in having caught it at all. Now for the wolf who had greeted her.

Her eyes shot up to meet him, shining in the dark, and she flashed a grin that shone in the moonlight. “Maiira greets you,” she purred, bowing her head. “What brings a wolf here so late at night, hmm?” She moved around the tide pool so that she was closer to the male and then sat down to wait for his response. In the meantime, she studied him, or what little she could see of him in the dark. He was much bigger than she was. Of course, all wolves were much bigger than she was, for the most part. Her coyote blood meant she was tiny compared to her full-blooded cousins. This did not frighten her. Let him come and attack if he wished. She was much quicker than he, she guessed, and would be long gone before he was anywhere near her.

Mocha went inactive so I'm archiving this.

The wolf, however, didn't seem to have anything more to say to her. "A silent one, hmm?" Maiira asked. "Maiira can be silent too, when she wishes to be." Then, with a flash of a grin in the dark, she turned tail and trotted away.
