As fortune had it, Nieve was at the plateau's edge, watching the flatlands below, when Rosalyn emerged and made her way up the towpath. The golden girl was therefore waiting for her mother's appearance with a slowly wagging tail and a smile. Her ventures out of the territory had been completely fruitless—she wasn't a great land hunter and the river was, by now, completely frozen over—but she was in relatively high spirits anyway.
