Everything was prepped, the food was buried, Effies wound was taken care of and their bellies were nearly bursting at the seams. For the night, all was calm and life was good. Rye hunkered down in the makeshift bed and invited Effie to lay beside him, if she chose. Whatever was the case, he was fast asleep before much thought of anything could pass through his mind.
