there she stood at the shore, having slipped away from her sleeping mother in the evening. the water was so close, and never had she touched the sea, did not know how to swim, and yet longed to take a dive. as if the swimming wasn't really important anyway- melting into the indigo depths sounded lovely. nüwu knew she shouldn't. but as she kept her musculature rigid like a statue to resist her heart, the voice in her head screamed that she ought to wade forward and forward until the water was over her head. she resisted the pull for now. but she wondered how much longer she could subdue it.
