Emmerich turned a single dark ear at the sound of his sister’s voice. She sounded annoyed. Shocking, since the little princess didn’t really like to do things that he liked to do. Judging by her expression and tone, he was probably going to get an earful of her opinions.

The boy’s stomach rumbled. He really wanted one of those treats that Wylla had showed him. He just didn’t know how she’d managed to catch one so well. After all, she was much taller than the vole she had brought to him. It should have been harder to reach down to snatch it.
