After several days spent inland, the lone she wolf opted to change her course. While the forest she had visited was nice and cozy, her paws were starting to itch. Tzila simply could not resist the urge to explore any longer. She traveled in a northwest direction, away from the forested region. There was still very little she knew about this wilderness. Even less so the wolves and the many packs that called it home.

Beneath her tired paws the land shifted and changed. The trees had thinned out, giving way to open feilds. This flat earth and the sense of openess they provided gave her a sense of freedom. Of space. But was it too much? With a soft frown and a narrowing of her slate eyes, she was undecided. Unexpectedly, the earth gave way into a steep plummet. As the first hints of salt air tickled her dark nose, she came closer to those taunting drop offs. Rewarded with a sprawling view of remote beaches and slivers of water, she took it all in as a cool breeze combed through the hairs of her spine. This wasn't so bad. Maybe she'd hang around.

The pallid corsair trekked out further from his intended claim in search of others who might seek to join their brood. His eyes trailed over the flow of the bluff, seeing only white and silver against a drab grey backdrop. The Cairn boy was beginning to wonder if they would truly come to fruition, or if he had set his hopes on something that was unobtainable. Lengthy limbs carried him with precise steps, sauntering along a terrain that he was certain he would become familiar with. Flicking his tail behind him, Smokestep's lips parted into a pant as he made his way.

It did not take long for him to catch sight of an inky sort of being, some yards away from him. He slowed his pace and drew his skull upward, regarding the creature to see if it was a wolf or not. It appeared so, and the pirate closed some of the distance that stretched between them in a few long steps. “Ahoy, lass,” he greeted to the dark wolfess with a tossing of his muzzle toward the air.

Facing towards the open expanse of the ocean and the sheer cliffs before her, Tzila wouldn't be able to see anyone or anything who might be in the area, should they decide to approach. By chance, this was the case. She was not alone. The pale wolf who approached from behind would get a full glimpse of her poised shilloute. Striking scarlet marring otherwise flawless onyx fur along her dorsal side, which was tussled gently by the breeze. Eyes slightly narrowed in thought, she scanned the cliffside for any hint of an opening down.

Interrupted were those very thoughts by the taint of a wolf on the wind, followed by a vocalized greeting. A single dark ear pivoted back in response. My, this one had quite the different accent. She smirked inwardly. Twisting her neck around to peer over her shoulder, she was met with the sight of a ghostly colored male. "Hello stranger." The rest of her body soon followed, twisting round to face him. "Quite the view from up here, ain't it?" She gestured with her muzzle towards the jagged cliffs and tiny dotted beaches that loomed so close, yet were also so out of reach.

The dark she-wolf returned his greeting with one of her own before she swept her muzzle toward the sea and made a remark about the view. The two tones of his gaze followed and he nodded swiftly to agree. “Quite the view? Oi miss, yer lookin' at the best view in the whole wide world,” he woofed softly. A peculiar sort of fondness was had for the seaside and the ocean breeze. It was not easily explained, but perhaps lied in the upbringing of the pallid yearling. Smokestep was born of the water and would die by her side. He imagined that nothing in between would matter much at all. The marauder found that those with a common mindset were difficult to find.

“Ye just enjoin' the sights, then?” the pirate inquired with a tilt of his crown and an inquisitive expression. Some came for the sunsets and the early morning light, but others remained behind after all of those had faded. The young Cairn was not entirely sure which this one would be, but he anticipated that some coercing would benefit the both of them.

Tzila always had a particular fondness for water. The sound of it soothed her on many a sleepless night. On aching joints, paw pads and muscles, it's touch brought a welcome releif. There was so much to like. Water was after all, the element of life. But she knew just as well that it could all too easily bring death. There were always two sides to a coin.

One corner of her mouth curled in a half smirk, slate eyes glinting. "Is that so? Well then, I am mighty priveledged to have a front row seat." It was only natural that she wanted to be close to the water. She was half Vancouver Island wolf after all, a subspecies that made their homes along the coastlines. Sadly, the ebony female had been born and raised nestled in a valley surrounded by impassable mountains. She had heard tales of the sea, but her paws had never touched the sand. At least, not until she broke away from her isolated little world and attained the freedom she sought. "You could say I am." She replied. "I actually didn't even know the land dropped off like this until a few moments ago." She peeled her gaze away to look far down below. "You wouldn't...know of any shortcuts down to those beaches below, would ya?"

He still did not quite believe that she was half as enthusiastic as he was about their view of the ocean side. Then again, it was not likely that she was as well immersed as he had been in the coast and the depths. Ever since he was young, Smokestep knew the dangers of the sea as well as the plenty that she afforded them. It was a rare occurrence to find someone who felt quite as passionately as he did about her rolling waters and the tempestuous nature.

“Aye, there are plenty of 'em if yer daring enough,” he answered her question with a nod of his head and a light flagging of his tail. “I'll show ye if ye like?” Some were safer than others, but he had found a good number of ways to traipse down to the shore without breaking every bone in his body.
