He gnawed upon a stray stick, sharp teeth whittling away the middle until it was held together by a single splinter. When it finally snapped in two, Sitamat stared down at his broken plaything in first surprise, and then dismay. It had been his entertainment for the past hour or so...and now he had none. Tonravik and Iqniq both were nowhere to be found. Same could be said for his brothers, though they may be in the den. If they were, Sitamat strangely didn't fancy joining them, having pent up energy that threatened to bubble over.

So when a soft chuff announced a presence nearby, the plump boy was quick to respond. He scrambled to his feet, forgetting about his toy now in favour of greeting whoever had stumbled into the den site.

His ears pricked as he found the source of the sound — the dark, rangy man he had met some time before. Aasivak. The boy wasn't sure of the newcomer, he said strange things. Nonetheless, he provided a distraction, one the youngest cub was desperate for. He waddled forward, staring curiously at the shock of red fur that hung from the spider's mouth. "Atatak?" he chirped softly, worried for a moment that the tail the man held was his father's.
