Right when Burke had finished, the wolves went wild. Damien had swooped into the carcass and Cicero followed soon after. The actions of Cicero were surprising to some, but not him. He didn't know his personality so there was no reason to be surprised.

His focus however wasn't really trained on the three, but instead on Kove. Mikasi was contemplating on whether or not he should make a move. As much as he wanted, it wouldn't really be a great idea. With all the time spent here, Kove would possibly have allies, not to mention he had that mark. Compared to that, Mikasi was nothing. Maybe it wasn't such a bright idea.

So instead of that, he would worry about keeping his own rank. He went around in a big loop and took a piece of meat from the opposite side of the crowd. He then moved away, isolating himself from the others and keeping an eye on Venus and Cyn.

Damien's reaction to her claim of superiority told her that her next move would be the last negotiating they would do. But she would not submit to him just because he felt he was most fit to become Beta, or closer to power. It would take more than just determination to push her out the way. Damien took his share of the meal as she did, neither of them denying themselves food. Cicero had the same idea before Damien had snapped at him too. What you want to eat the whole thing? She couldn't help but scowl.

Finally did her hears flatten to meet her skull, growls rippling through her as everything about her became ready to fight. And then she met his eyes. A challenge in itself. She was not afraid of him nor would she stand down to his ego. But she would not charge first, she had no mind for spontaneous actions at the moment. She detected no movement against her from anyone else, and in an instant did she dive into the elk again, furiously cramming as much as she could into her mouth before quickly chewing it down. She would not forfeit her right to eat, of all things. With a gleam in her eyes did she wickedly smile at the snarling male in front of her. It was a taunt, but she didn't care. She wanted it over and done with, waiting and sizing each other up could only stall for so long.

If this thread doesn't keep going then I'd say it's safe to archive it... I'm happy with my results :P

With both hands full, Nemesis in one and Cicero in the other, Damien simply didn't know how to deal with himself. Not once had he seen himself in need to defend his rank actively, and it was a whole new experience for him to be confronted.

While Cicero seemed to be alright with staying right under Damien in rank, and he accepted it, Nemesis was a whole other case. She was being relentless, bold even, and Damien simply could not best him without pinning her to the ground, which he knew Burke would not approve of. He was diligent and respectful of his Alpha and father's words, and if he had to resign to his rank for now for the sake of peaceful coexistence, he would suck it up and plan his revenge. To Damien it wasn't clear who was above, if him or Nemesis, but for now he ate his part head to head with her.
