If there was meant to be any implication at the Silvertip wolf's words, Mordecai missed it. But Kaname's otherwise proved his assumption correct; they really were too far out for either one of them to pose a real threat to property. This wasn't really the first time he had picked up on that, but he could not place any blame. It wasn't worth the expenditure of energy to drive off anyone who could get too close. And besides, Mordecai, at times, believed in letting others come to him, rather than actively seeking them out.
“Are you saying you'd chase me?” It seemed like a fitting question. With Jinx's offer still on his table, he wondered just how close he was going to have to get to either chance an encounter with her, or summon her. And if he did have to get close to her proverbial borders, he did not want to be at the receiving end of some rogue guardian's sharp teeth.
