All Welcome
There'd been some tricky business getting past the mountains, which were a lot steeper than the ones she knew from back home. She'd been forced to go through a narrow pass, and then along the edges of a forest too dense for her large frame to pass through. Which left her in a protected field in the foothills, the ocean nowhere in sight.

"Great," said Blackbear as she paced through the field, the moon-painted grasses brushing against her stomach. It was beautiful, but it wasn't what she was looking for. Blackbear longed to see the ocean again, so that she could find her way back to that place in the east. Perhaps it was just around the deep weald she'd bypassed, but it was impossible to tell from where she stood.

No matter. She'd just keep going, and it would be fine. But perhaps she could spend the night here, where the mountains stood over her like protective golems - and over there, in the distance - could that be Adeline Laughs? Blackbear squinted at the far-off peak and decided that it must be, even if it was from a different angle than she was used to. So she wasn't that far off her mark.

Comforted, the girl found a place to curl up in the shimmering field and laid down to take a nap.

He heads inland, unsatisfied. Were all the seawolves here as fickle as that girl?

Treasures--pah! To be a slave to materialism was to rot like an old tree, stuck in the mud.

You focus too much on tangible things and you lose sight of what is truly real--

What you believe to be real is superfluous;

And what you believe to be superfluous is the only reality there is.

Imtiaz stops short at the sleeping ball of dark fur, peering down at her with a curious gaze, an open smile.

"Why are you here?" he asks, hoping to startle her out of her slumber.

Perhaps the landwolves will be wiser.

It was the whisper of grass on fur that roused her from her half-sleep. The fur along her spine was already bristling when a voice startled her into wakefullness.  She rocketed to her paws, turning to snap a grizzly warning at the stranger that'd disturbed her sleep so rudely and, admittedly, scared her half out of her skin.

"What's your problem?" she demanded, backing several steps away and peering at the other with tense, wary eyes. She'd been sure, for a moment, that she was going to be attacked.
