atwood, having badgered @Seabreeze into walking with him, is seemingly unbothered by what he'd witnessed. of course, that isn't completely true: the image of bloodshed and the loss of his mother have buried deep into his bones, in the funny way trauma does to small children, an unnameable ache he will feel for the rest of his life. but on the quotidian level, at least, he acts much the same, constantly pushing to get out and just walk and observe, shadowing his siblings and adults he comes into contact with, a little unusually quiet (or unusual, if he hadn't been sired by ariel, at least).

seabreeze gently points him towards the other child, who he regards with muted interest. he's lost his mama too, seabreeze gently reminds him -- he remembers arguing with cam about it. this one isn't cam, though. without a glance at his mother, atwood trundles closer to cortez and ziggy, and silently mimics their position, lying out on his belly next to the pale child. he doesn't know what they're doing, or why, but it's nice to find someone else who likes to sit and watch things quietly.
