He kept getting flashes of the day he found @Alarian injured in the mountains, still grew uncontrollably angry at the sight of blood on his mate's face. The blood had originated from a large gash on the other man's head. What made things even more infuriating was that he still hadn't been able to get much from his mate about what had actually happened. There was something just...different about him now that Midar couldn't really narrow down to anything in particular; it was just a feeling that something was off. He knew his mate well, and he knew there was more going on than he would share, much to the beast's very obvious frustration. He hadn't even broached the subject of returning home yet, not sure if it would turn into a fight; he just wasn't in the mood. He had been feeling strange himself for the last few days with his constant headaches and very out of character fatigue. So, he hadn't been as pushy as normal, which was why they were here, looking for a place to rest for a while instead of talking about what was next.

The cave seemed promising, at least it didn't make his pounding head any worse. The scent of moisture was heavy in the air, making the beast think that maybe there was a hidden lake somewhere deeper inside. He was looking forward to finding somewhere to rest; he hadn't divulged to his mate just how badly his head felt today, and he feared that if he didn't take a break soon, he might have to be more truthful about how he was feeling. The headache had started a few days ago; at first it was just a dull ache, easy to ignore and focus on Alarian and making sure he wasn't pushing himself too far. Yesterday, the ache had grown into more of a constant pulsating pain, making itself known despite his efforts to pretend it wasn't there. Today, he had been able to think of little else; the pain was almost unbearable, a squeezing pressure encompassing his entire head. It was like his brain was trying to explode from his skull. And his vision had started to blur not too long ago; he had tried to blink the feeling away, but it was useless. Still stubborn as ever, he still tried to ignore it and continue their exploration.

He stopped when he heard the sound of running water and turned to say something to Alarian, except--he couldn't remember what he had been going to say. He stared at his mate for a few seconds, confusion on his face, and then he tried to speak but the words came out slurred and incoherent. He suddenly felt dizzy and nauseous, and he tried to take a step towards Alarian, but he fell to the ground with a grunt. Every muscle in his body tightened, his head pulling back without his control. Tremors started in his legs, and then moved through his body, eventually becoming violent convulsions.

Then darkness.
Shaking hands with the dark parts of my thoughts
