All Welcome
solaire hovered just past the entrance of the den. she was a careful and obedient girl, with just the right amount of caution to keep her from wandering into danger. that didn't mean she wasn't curious as can be- she was a child, after all. today the pale daughter sniffed among the plants just outside the den. mostly soft grasses, with a couple flowers scattered among them... she learned their scents one by one, and each day she felt she could better tell them apart.

The boy had taken to wandering the moorland, exploring all the places between his patrols and hunting attempts.
He really needed to learn how to hunt better.

On this occasion of wandering, though, he seemed to happen upon a more secluded den surrounded with scents he felt like he should remember, but doesn't quite.
He couldn't place the smell and wandered closer, curious.

A small child popped it's head from the den and started sniffing around.
His ears pressed forward, standing perfectly still.
Then, his tail waved softly and he chuffed, taking another few steps forward, uncertain on what to do.
His curiosity warred with his instincts to stay away.

the chuff alerted the little sunbeam, and her head whipped up rather suddenly. fur pricked along her spine- this was not erzulie, or rosalyn, certainly not arcelia- who was this fellow? she eyed him hesitantly and a quiet umm, slipped awkwardly from her lips. solaire stumbled slightly backward on little paws, nervous of the stranger, and not sure she could really trust him at all. her gaze flitted back to the flowers- wanting- but she was undecided whether she should remain outside.

The boy tilted his head, standing almost still again, the only part of him moving was his swaying tail.
Had he scared her? Or was she just nervous?
He dipped his head low, trying to look apologetic, maybe a little dejected.
Maybe it would make her braver if it looked like he really really wanted her attention.

"I'm sorry for scaring you," he murmured. His voice had not yet developed the deep baritones of older men so perhaps his boyish tone wouldn't make him so intimidating.

Had he been scared like this in Blackfeather? He couldn't remember very well. His earliest memory was probably Hela and the ravine, though he remembered quite well the first teachings from Maegi which surely wasn't long before that.

his head hung low then, eyes like puppy-dog, apologizing for his oh-so-terrible crime of existing near her. light words fell from his mouth, but she did not understand them- only knew a couple of words herself. dakò, she murmured awkwardly, unaware that her mother's language was not understood by all. he did not seem so threatening anymore, with that look... and so she came out of her shell again, padding towards him and purposefully sniffing at the grasses beside his feet, wondering how he might react.

His apology was accepted with a babble of words he didn't think actually mean anything, and more so to his surprise, she came right up to him!
He kept still, sniffing her gently to not startle her.
Then, he places that scent. Khepri! Or rather his Mother.

He tilted his head, regarding the tiny bean - was he really one this small? - and looking for features to relate her to his friend.
There, the colours. Those undertones of gold that would develop as his milky coat has done to transition into a cream-gold. The slight muzzle she holds much like Erzulie's too.

Slowly, so as not to alarm the girl, he lay down in the grass, tail thumping. He wondered how much of the world she'd explored, if she thought of this land like he did Blackfeather.

as she sniffed, he observed, and soon was laying down right before her! her gaze widened at the sight of his huge face which had somehow become bigger, and she could swear she felt the breath from his nostrils on her fur. u-um, she stuttered awkwardly, taking a step back with one hind leg, though front half remained in place. was he trying to frighten her? well- she would not have it. solaire stepped forward more confidently then, even daring to stick out her tongue and place a lap upon his dark nose.

She seemed timid for a moment, and, fearing he'd scared her again, put his muzzle in the grass he laid on.
His golden eyes watched her storm forward.
Ah, he'd angered the fire-bean!

She licked his nose with such confidence that she definitely deserved to know how powerful she was.
"Ahh you got mee!" He softly cried, half whispering, as then played dead.
He waited for a moment, then grinned, living his head back up to let her know that her might hadn't really defeated him.

Rowan, forever the playful one, couldn't stop grinning.

when he cried and played dead, she gasped a sharp breath rather suddenly, eyes widening with terror. had she killed him?! she had not meant to do such a thing, did not know that his nose was his weak point or she would've avoided it- but in a moment's time, he perked back up. her terror wiped away into a wide smile, as she couldn't help the wag of her tail. so it was a game! she wished to play now, knowing no harm was done- and reached out now to lick his nose again- play dead for me!!

Her short gasp was completely adorable.
His eyes shone with delight, amazed at how much delight she brought to him.
She wasn't even his! And still she could bring a beaming smile to his face.

What of his own children? Would they be like this?

But soon enough she was giggling again, playing into his game.
She went for his nose again, and again he played dead.
This time, more dramatically, rolling his eyes back and flopping his head down, his tongue lolling from his mouth.

i sorta forgot about this thread omg sorry, wrapping >_<

he was a fantastic playmate. he played dead again, tongue hanging dramatically from his mouth. knowing now it was a game, she was not inclined to worry, rather giggled girlishly and beat her tail again. she would be content to play this game for hours, easily entertained- and though their games certainly wouldn't last that long, they played for some time more, until rowan had duties to attend to or solaire grew tired.
