Alexandre nodded his head at the go-ahead from the older wolf and scouted out. The deer weren't far off - it was a small group, a buck, three does, and two fawns. The doe without a fawn was older, limping, probably didn't have a lot of time left anyway. That was the one they should go for. 

The St. Clair jerked his muzzle toward the old deer, signalling to Tahoe that he was about to run.

And he did. Ale was quick on his feet, dashing into the tiny herd and breaking them up. Fortunately, the younger deer all scattered in different directions, and he was able to herd the older one off, nipping at her heels and driving her toward McBride.
