The "captive" was not so much of a traditional captive. She was bound to the island by her injuries rather than a guard or a pit, injuries inflicted by Yuèlóng warriors, but Huā saw no benefit in adding to them. She had wronged Orochi somehow in the past. Angered Minori in the present. But the empress did not believe in undeserved cruelty, and would not touch a hair on that girl unless, or until, she learned that some unforgivable crime was committed.
Today she visited with a freshly caught rabbit. Huā much preferred fish, but even carrying this lower class meat was tempting, and she had to remind herself to be a good host. When she arrived she found the girl resting, but placed the rabbit beside her, tapping the catch boredly with a black paw until the girl would awaken.
