Imaq felt she had found what was surely a botanist's paradise when she stumbled upon the little glen of diverse greenery nestled at the southwestern corner of the Taiga. Even if it was a bit of a travel from the Glacier, the land was covered in a multitude of herbs and flora that made the trip worthwhile.

Imaq was searching through the various herbs, considering what she might gather to take back with her, when the wind shifted and she caught the scent of an old kill. She couldn't quite make out the animal or what had killed it but she decided to follow it nonetheless, the game trail leading her to a bobcat that had unearthed a huge hunk of meat from its personal cache -- where Imaq could just make out a few more cuts of meat stored within from her vantage point.

The feline hadn't seen or smelled her yet where she crouched in the low foliage but Imaq knew it would soon, silently debating whether she stood a chance at fighting the cat for its food.

it was the scent of old meat that attracted ananke, hunger clawing at her belly. she had grown dangerously lean in the months since she had last stepped foot in the wilds. a compulsion had drawn her away from the fen moons ago, and in the depths of winter she fought against it to return to her home— and yet.

she was here. inevitable.

what greeted her as she stepped into the forest was a dream, and a rare grin split her muzzle. it was not the rich, heady medicine of the bog; but the scent of rot was thick between the trees, a muskier smell than the sweetness of decaying meat. this was a place worth exploring. but first: food. she was not quite ready to meat death.

but as a twig snapped beneath her foot, and the wild eyes of a bobcat set upon her, ananke sighed in a detached sort of way.

Imaq was still deliberating when a flicker of ivory shadow in her peripherals caught her eye. She turned slightly, gaze of broken seaglass landing upon the snowbird as she stalked through the undergrowth like a spirit bound to the forest of the Cache -- drifting forward on skinny legs, her haunted eyes hungry as they watched the bobcat, mesmerized.

A twig cracked beneath her foot and the cat jerked, a thunderous snarl spilling from between its bared fangs as it hunched over its food protectively. It growled where it hunkered upon the forest floor, lips sheathing over its teeth though it continued to glower at the pale waif.

Imaq chose then to reveal herself, creeping from the brush to stand a few stone throws from the small she-wolf's side -- a rumble of her own escaping through the wrinkle of her snarling muzzle. The other girl didn't seem up to handling the bobcat on her own, still starved with the same winter that colored her curves, and the golden merle thought perhaps they might stand a better chance at scoring some meat together.
