He was very serious as a child and rarely spoke out of turn if he spoke at all. It took him a long time to warm up to the vigorous training his father put them through but he excelled at it, even over Nathara who put her heart and soul into it. Alshain was his father’s choice for heir and as such emulated the General to the best of his capabilities. However, this created something of a double-edged sword as Alshain lacks the compassion and love his father was occasionally known to show. Instead, he is borderline heartless and can be downright cruel at times. He was somewhat close with Nathara due to their shared interests. He would later become queerly obsessed with her after his second birthday.

When he returned from his Northern travels and found Nathara had not returned with the rest, he set out West in search of her. In the process, he joined with Shearwater Bay for additional protection and shelter during his quest. He later found his sister, and discovered that she was unwilling to return to Veldaris Peak with him because of the life she had made in Seahawk Valley. This enraged and humiliated him. He had planned for her to rule as his second, and claim her as his mate for there was no one else, in his eyes, worthy of the title. Scorned, he vowed that if he could not have her, no one would.

One evening, he followed her to the cliffs near Sterenvuur. He ambushed her, intending to break her spirit, but she fought back after a verbal altercation and managed to throw him off. She did not hesitate, and fought back viciously. Because his mind was clouded by emotion, he lost. She tore at his eyes (managing to destroy one of them) and shattered his front right leg with her powerful bite. He manged to get away from her and she did not follow under the assumption he would die from his wounds.

He left the Valley and hobbled back to Veldaris Peak where he was cared for by his family until he could function again. They did not learn of his crimes against Nathara until she returned for a visit a year after Liyano's passing. The matter was put to trial, and he lost. His brother Temporis, now leader of Veldaris Peak in his stead, exiled him to the Wastes.
