Being born in the dead of winter to an irresponsible pair of coywolf siblings took its toll on Cthulhu and her litter mates, who all turned out either deranged, anxious, or unsocialized. The necessity of keeping the incest secret, as well as the bitter cold of the north, caused the pups to be developmentally stunted, and the erratic stories and warnings of their mother made them afraid of their own pack. The more levelheaded wolves of the pack were nervous around the strange cubs and, when the children were old enough, took measures to force them to disperse. Cthulhu was the first to leave, being the most anxious and nervous. She wandered south, becoming a thief in the process to keep herself alive, though she is often kind to those she meets when she isn't starving.
