Born to a Khal by the name of Davrollo amongst three other male siblings, Rhanno grew up in a pack hardened by the arid plains that they lived in, being taught the ways of the Dotharan. A strict sense of culture and tradition was instilled within him, which only became even further ingrained as he took the helm of the Khalas once his father was too old to lead.

The pack was a brutal one, taking many slaves and captives when they raided other's land, one of which later became Rhanno's wife, Eshinni. However, when she gave him five daughters the man began to doubt her usefulness, trading away the girls to other packs for land, truces and slaves — save for Tihollo, the only son Eshinni bore. As he grew older and was groomed to be a warrior, Rhanno captured two other pups from a neighbouring pack — a boy named Zoratto and a girl, Navi, who were raised to be Rhanno's slave and future wife respectively.

However, in a show of dominance, Tihollo, who was now old enough to lead, other threw his ageing father. Rhanno was exiled along with Eshinni and their two young captives. Eventually, after realising Zoratto was also growing stronger and becoming protective of Navi, Rhanno decided to split from his wife and daughter, taking the boy far away from them and into the foreign lands known as the Teekon Wilds. It was here he stumbled upon the scent of another Khal, Rakharo, and followed it with the intent to join his Khalas (and eventually overthrow him when he gets the chance).
