Aro is a Sage of Eldfell, he isn’t aligned to any religion or faith, he is wise old wolf who's lived long enough to accumulate knowledge in all sorts of fields. He has the insight to see the people's potential and the wisdom to direct them in ways that might best develop it, and although his eyesight isn’t great, he can see directly into the hearts of people. Despite his age his mind is still sharp as is his hearing. He speaks softly but his counsel is so valued and respected that many fall silent to hear it. He excels at clever plans and arrangements, but they are always meant to ensure his pack’s interests. He doesn't have to scheme in order for people to confide in him. Aro is a wise, humble and capable man, and he uses his intellect to help his pack.

Aro has an exceptionally strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others, and finds great personal fulfillment interacting with people, nurturing their personal development, guiding them to realize their human potential. Although he’s happy working as Sage (which requires solitude and close attention), Aro does quite well with individuals or groups of people, provided that the personal interactions are not superficial, and that he finds some quiet, private time every now and then to recharge his batteries. Aro is both kind and positive in his handling of others; he’s a great listener and seems naturally interested in helping people with their personal problems. Not fit to be a leader, Aro prefers to work intensely for his pack, quietly exerting his influence behind the scenes.

Aro can be hard to get to know, since he tends not to share his innermost thoughts or his powerful emotional reactions. He is highly private, with an unusually rich, complicated inner life. Friends or colleagues who have known him for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that he is flighty or scattered; he values his integrity a great deal, but he has a mysterious, intricately woven personality which sometimes puzzles even himself.

Aro tends to work effectively in a pack. He values staff harmony and makes every effort to help his pack run smoothly and pleasantly. He understands and uses social systems creatively, and is good at consulting and cooperating with others. As a Sage, Aro is concerned with people's feelings and is able to act as a barometer of the feelings within the pack.

His great talent for language is usually directed toward communicating with people in a personalized way. Aro is highly intuitive and can recognize another's emotions or intentions - good or evil - even before that person is aware of them. He himself can seldom tell how he came to read others' feelings so keenly. This extreme sensitivity to others could very well be the basis of the Aro’s remarkable ability to experience a whole array of psychic phenomena.
