Novalias mother, Brigel, left her pack by choice to avoid an arranged pairing, traveling from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, to the far north, a place called Spirit Plains. There, on the outskirts of the Canadian Tundra, she met Nova's father, Shard, and he took her into his pack. A year later, Novalia, her sister, Twyla and brother Dusk were born. They lived a quiet, calm life with their pack, surrounded by mostly flat white, and flourished.
However, when Nova was 2 winters old, her Father and Alpha of their beloved pack suffered a horrible betrayal from his Second in Command. The Beta wolf had conspired with rouges and loners to overthrow his leader and kill off any who would pose a threat to his new reign. Unfortunately Shard and Dusk were killed and Twyla was kept as a hostage. Nova and her Mother escaped only because Dusk was able to cover their retreat into the wilderness. After a few weeks of running south, only stopping to hunt and rest, they began to slow their pace and wonder what to do next. Brigel had been able to lead her daughter back the same way she herself had once come, to the border of the foothills. It was there that they were able to lay down and have a full nights sleep for the first time in weeks. It was also there that they were attacked by a small Grizzly while they slept, leaving Novalia with a gash and bleeding ear. Brigel survived for many days with her wounds, pushing herself for Nova's sake, but soon succumbed to infection. Heartbroken, Nova left behind her last piece of home and continued on alone, picking up the scent of other wolves here and there but never straying too close.
