Appearance
Like others of her subspecies, the Yukon is a tall, athletic woman - neither weak in appearance nor masculine. Her body is well proportioned with musculature that only enhances her natural build. A true northerner, thick of coat and powerful, despite her departure from the boreal forest.

She claims a classic beauty - that of a traditional black wolf. Her coat, nearly unheard of amongst northerners, is onyx with soft undertones of charcoal. Her skin is also the same pitch, giving her a monochromatic appearance until the raven steps into sunlight - causing her coat to catch the light and reflect goldenly, setting the stage for a molten gaze.

A number of violent scars line her face and body, often drawing curious looks though they often go ignored and questions will be met with an incredulous expression, if not aggression.

Biography
"Spectacular mountain ranges, magnificent rolling rivers, and vast woodlands of spruce and birch trees are habitat for moose, bears, wolves, and Dall sheep. Summer’s heat and the frenzied vitality of its wildlife make amends for the pitiless cold that silences this winterfast land during the darkest months.

In the foothills of the Alaska Range, glacier-carved mountains stand sentry over exposed tundra, meandering brooks and lowlands darkened by spruce and birch trees. These woodlands of the North, called the boreal forest, provide habitat for an abundance of Alaska wildlife. Underlain by frozen grounds and located at the northern edge of the treeline, these forests are adapted to long, cold winters, brief summers, and little precipitation. Trees only inches in diameter may be hundreds of years old."

Early Life:
Born in the Alaskan Interior to a handful of other siblings, her first few weeks saw little of the uproar her birth, and that of her litter mates, had caused.

She was born to an Omega, who had been placed in such a lowly rank on account of their trespassing in another pack's territory. Upon trespassing she must have met someone while in heat and copulated with him. Her pups were taken, to be raised by a mother who had lost her own children and was eager to adopt, and she was banished from the tribe.

It seemed the pups would receive a happy ending with their adoring, adoptive mother but the new parent soon found herself frustrated with the stress of caring for youngsters. One night, the mother snapped, killing two of Amka's sisters and injuring the rest.

The adoptive mother too was cast out, though this time the pup's were collectively placed under the care of the whole pack - wards of the tribe.

As they grew, they were avoided by much of the tribe who were unnerved by the children and unsure how to interact with them. Amka's remaining siblings turned down dark paths and Amka let them go, for she had never been very attached to them.

The lonely girl found comfort in the teachings of the tribe - her adolescence was spent learning much about the religions, histories, and the culture of the tribe. At 9 months old, she entered the adult ranks and took up a helper's role beneath the medicine woman, Atali, who became something like a grandmother to the girl.

Her role as an acolyte occupied her time and for several months the girl enjoyed a peaceful era under her mentor.

Months later, in a time when the elders were close to announcing who would be chosen to be a second to the medicine woman - an honor that would eventually lead to becoming the tribe's shaman - she was kidnapped by a group of three males.

They were brothers to another acolyte, a girl named Kiche, who would surely be chosen if Amka were not in her way. Secretly, the girl had employed her brothers to make sure Amka would never again attempt to claim a spot amongst the spiritual leaders. It's unclear exactly what was done to the girl, as she has yet to speak of the caves or the horrors she endured there, but it was enough for the girl to briefly release her sanity - using the caves to her advantage and eliminating the brothers.

Amka returned home only to find Atali had passed and Kiche had been chosen by the elders. This was enough for the girl to renounce her place amongst her people and leave the Interior for good.

The girl traveled alone for several months, aimlessly searching before being contacted by the raven in her dreams. When she woke, she found him perched on a branch above her. Taking this to be a sign from the spirits, she could not even consider ignoring it. Rising to her feet, the two began their journey south.

Teekon:
Amka followed the raven into Teekon, stopping at Permafrost Hollows where the raven determined their travels to be over. Once the bird departed, she spent a short period of time temporarily living there before being found by a male named Steele.

After speaking with Steele she found out about a northern tribe called IkKanattuk on the nearby glacier. She agreed to follow him to the borders and try her chances there.

Amka speaks both the common tongue (English), and the northern tongue (the language of the Inuit - known as an Eskimo-Aleut dialogue, it is fairly similar to Yupik languages though remotely related to the Aleut languages and is often referred to as Inuktitut).

Amka is a devout believer in animism, the belief that spirits inhabit every natural thing (whether it be a plant, stone, animal, river, etc.) and this is often what guides her decisions.
