Avis was born to large pack where her parents were the Alphas. On the day of her birth there was a tremendous storm and surrounded by stillborn brothers and sisters. When she appeared viable for life her mother was not willing to leave her side for two weeks. Avis' father had eventually returned from a long hunt and when he had seen his daughter, he was instantly suspicious. He suspected that Avis was fathered by a different male and immediately scorned both his mate and his child.

Avis' father began to grow distant and as her mother pleaded for him to accept her, he did not believe Avis was his true and only heir, she had said that if the pup had his eyes, which were still shut it was definite proof that Avis was truly the next in line. Thankfully Avis was born with her fathers yellow, rapturous eyes and he deeply regretted everything he said to his only surviving child.

Avis did not grow up with any other pups her age and wasn't doted on much by her parents or pack, leaving her somewhat aloof and reserved. Her pack was vehement about their children being raised to be independent and self-sufficient. She never felt truly connected with her pack and this led to Avis to have little social skills and a lack of a drive to play. Avis spent a majority of her time learning the temperance and drills of warriors, which most of her time as a teenager was spent sparring with other adults.

While growing up, Avis' pack was suffering from chain breakdown, other members concerned that the packs breeding rights had become too strict and that the lack of pups became an issue, no whelps meant no future. Avis was looked upon as a scornful example of how strict breeding meant the dwindling generations and ultimately the death of the pack.

After a great argument, members began to trade punches and Avis' parents were scorned and soon driven outside of the pack. Avis remained separated from her parents and was destined to become the new Alpha when she came of age so that any loyalist to the alphas could be quelled in the exchange of hands. Though in reality another wolf had taken the role as Regent, temporary Alpha as Avis would mature and learn through the elders. The exact season of when Avis was able to inherit her position kept moving and specifics of what constituted her as able to lead were constantly moved ahead, soon it became evident that the Regent was attempting to hold onto the power as long as possible. When Avis confronted the regent, she was cast aside as being too immature and unpolished. She began to realise she had little connection and faith with her people, rumours sparked of her being permanently being the inheritor and never the Alpha, through espionage or otherwise. Avis grew to distrust her own people and didn't like the prospect of being a in the position as inheritor forever being considered a child, so in an instant decision, she left her pack and has been wondering ever since trying to find a new home who will treat her like the adult she is.
