Daisy Fields was always a pretty creepy place. At least, Florian thought so. His mother might have seen it, but she didn't care much either way; dad wasn't around from the start, and her supply of male attention was far more important than the safety of her children. Lucky for Florian, he happened to have the best sister in the world; older by a few minutes, as she often liked to brag after finding out during a rare conversation with mom, and more fierce by a mile. From the moment they were old enough to have such a dynamic, she was largely his maternal figure, a source of protection and affection.
Their childhood was uneventful by their own standards, but by anyone else's, it was full of tragedy and neglect and creeps and a number of horrible things children should never have to deal with. Early exposure numbed the pair to the true horror of their situation, and they considered themselves happy for a time, if restricted. It was during these months that they started to develop separate interests; Delilah discovered her skill in battle, while Florian nurtured his tracking skills and soon became a proficient hunter.
But eventually his fierce, fiery sister grew sick of the rot lurking under the too-sweet mask of Daisy Fields. Adulthood arrived, and the pair departed in the dead of night, though Florian was reluctant to leave the only home he'd ever known. But he'd have done anything for his sister. Their mission to get as far away as possible was taxing at first, but eventually they fell into an easy routine with one another, and started to truly enjoy life for the first time. They made plans to see the world, experience all the things they'd had to avoid in their fight for survival at Daisy Fields.
Then the metal beast came. Even now, months later, Florian cannot quite recall all of the details of that day. He remembers only the metal beast, and the loss of Delilah; he never saw her again. For a time, he searched, but it was as if she had simply vanished. He was forced to give up the search and assume her dead, sending him spiraling into depression for many months. After a chance encounter with another escaped Daisy Fields native, absorbed in a ravaging addiction, he decided it was finally time to move on with his life in hopes of avoiding a similar fate. He enters Teekon now with nothing but the tiniest spark of hope in his heart and a false sense of optimism he wears like armor.
