At a Glance
Of dignified and noble bearing, the Akita Inu is dominated by a bright coat of fox red and arctic white. Keen, wise deep brown eyes seem to smile despite his neutral expression, and two vertical scars mark his left. Two more scars draw a rather dramatic cross on his right shoulder. Worn about his neck are two adornments: a black nylon collar, and a rolled-up, fraying goldenrod bandana.
Profile of Sensei: Details
Appearance
A tall, stocky and athletic figure, Enso's profile is dignified and calmly confident. Covered in a plush coat of red and white that was once meticulously groomed but has since been allowed to become a bit more unruly. His plumed tail is perpetually curled high on his back, matching the spirit dancing behind half-lidded deep brown eyes. A black nylon collar and a tattering bandana of mustard-yellow decorate his neck. Two slashes cross his left eye; a cross of scars prominent on his right shoulder.
Personality
Calm, confident, firm - Enso is humble, but sure of himself in a manner that radiates power. An overall respectful and friendly figure, he carries no aim in this world other than to experience it fully and to realize enlightenment. Toward others, his personality changes, morphing into what they most need him to be - a caring father, a strict instructor, a wise friend. His moral compass is very firm, but may seem chaotic to some: it adapts to the situation, and he acts from a place of no-mind. Sometimes his actions may seem bizarre, nonsensical, childlike, or exaggerated, but that is simply Enso as he is in that moment.
Biography
Born at a beautiful estate just outside of Kyoto, Japan, Enso's earliest days were spent learning about his birth culture. Shortly after weaning, he was purchased and then given as a gift to an American. Enso's owner was a Zen Buddhist practitioner who retired to solitude in his country’s western wilds and he raised lovingly raised Enso into a calm, confident, loyal companion. The Akita spent his early adulthood devotedly at his master's side with an older Akita, Kensho, whom Enso loved dearly. Kensho did his best to impart all of his spiritual and practical knowledge to his young student, and Enso mourned deeply when old age claimed his teacher. Not long after, Enso's master didn't wake one morning. The dog stayed by his master's side for days, not eating or leaving his side. When he was sure his human companion had truly departed this world, Enso struck out at three years of age into the wilderness, where he honed his practice and broadened his experience.

Player Notes
I play Enso based on my own practice as a Soto Zen student. I am by no means an expert, so what you experience should be taken with a grain of salt. :) Please also keep in mind that artistic liberties are taken, and, well, he is a dog. If you find any inaccuracies or cultural interpretations offensive, please, please let me know.

I tend to post multiple paragraphs - please do not feel pressured to do the same.

I am a slower poster, as I like to pace myself and allow some time to sit with your work before I respond.
