At a Glance
His head, neck, and back shrouded in an ebony “veil”, Shroud’s sharp lavender eyes miss little. The young male is massive in height, though slender of build, carrying himself with a sort of graceful elegance that seems counterintuitive. The rest of his shining pelt is a steel blue with white limbs and undertones, providing stark contrast to his obsidian head. His expression is perpetually unreadable.
Profile of Shroud: Details
Appearance
Unusually tall, but thin; an elegant, almost feminine profile. Silas is blanketed in a sleek, well-kept pelt of blue-grey and white; but his most prominent feature, and namesake, is the black “shroud” that covers his head, neck, and back. His silvery lavender eyes are somber, but carry an unmistakable glimmer of keen intellect. Usually found in a defensive, pensive posture when alone, but will change to a more confident pose when interacting with others.

Personality
True Neutral | INTP (The Logician) | RCOAI | Melancholic-Phlegmatic

Quiet, somewhat imposing, calculating; eclectic, eccentric - though overall possessed of a bias toward benefitting others, his alignment can be chaotic as he works toward his own ends. Obsessed with death, and specifically, overcoming it, Shroud studies and scrutinizes everything, contemplating how natural designs can be improved toward creating a more perfect world. He can often be found tinkering with various trinkets his finds, intently studying plants (and experimenting with them), or simply reclining in quiet meditation.

Reclusive and aloof, he rarely initiates contact with others. Of keen intellect, he speaks in a rather grandiose vocabulary, which others may find grating or intimidating.
Biography
Silas was born and raised on the unforgiving tundra of the Aldris Wastes. His natal family consisted solely of Silas, his mother, and sole surviving sister. Life was lean and harsh, but his mother was able to ensure her two living children grew strong and healthy on the scraps she was able to procure. Shroud and his sister were close, never far from one another as they explored the world they inhabited.

When Shroud had just entered his second spring, the demons arrived. Strange creatures of metal, with a roar like an avalanche, they also brought with them their parasites - two-legged, foul-smelling beasts that radiated malice. During the last encounter with such monsters, the Whitedawn family raced to the forest's edge. However, after a single clap of thunder, his mother fell lifeless in the snow, her life's blood running freely from her throat.

Silas and his sister, Nallana, continued toward the safety of the trees, but not before a second clap of thunder resounded. Nallana screamed as a wound appeared on her side, but she continued alongside her brother until they reached the darkness of the pines. It wasn't long before Nallas could no longer run, and Shroud watched over her vigilantly, trying everything in his power to close her wound. She didn't last the night. Silas mourns her deeply still, in his quiet way.

The next dawn, Silas made the vow to learn how to undo death, so that no one would ever have to face loss again. He became a nomad, learning everything he can from every source, whether it's canine, avian, herb, or otherwise.
