A light, southern trek pulled him along the rough curvature of the mountain range between the wilderness and its sibling hinterland. The sky was awash in its evening attire, though the rolling valley of Silverlight was well into twilight, where sunrays no longer reached over the snowcapped mountains. He stayed away from this place for such a spell, not quite daring to tempt fate any more than he had in his last venture there.
But all in all, his curiosity won him over, and he found himself taking a stroll that was far more leisure than his intentions there. He thought this place a common stomping ground belonging to @Hydra, and needless to say it was perhaps the entire reason for letting himself draw nearer to the familiar jag of Moonspear's crowning features.
Drawing his muzzle up and over the summer blend of foliage that tickled it, he eyed the many ridges that laid between him and the fringes he recalled their claim to sprawl; he would go no nearer to them, ever keen on keeping focus and suspicion off himself. If she lingered near she would find him, the wind not at all in his favor as though it were intentional too. A subtle tease for another subtle tease.

Maud moved with purpose, muscles rolling beneath her sleek silver exterior as she walked at a brisk clip. She'd caught scent of several deer that passed through here not long ago and was now hot on their trail. As the predator tracked, the smell of something far less appetizing met her palate: wolf. It was up ahead where she could see it now, but it appeared to be alone, thankfully. Maud had no intentions of interacting with it or even acknowledging its presence unless it wanted something from her for whatever reason.
She was making to pass by the canine while giving it a wide berth, keeping an eye fixed on it, though her expression was blank and detached as it always was. Its eyes were scanning the mountains nearby―away from her, but her presence would likely make itself known quite soon.

In the steps to follow, the pungent aroma of another predator teased his senses. His hackles prickled with unease as his focus adjusted, abandoning the pursuit of sussing out Hydra for ensuring his own hide didn't end up snared in teeth unwarranted. It did not take him long to narrow down the creature that prowled just beyond his line of sight; cougars were definitely not the sort he would tangle with. Perhaps it would have been worth harassing if he had been in the company of spry ilk and of the inclination.
His steps slowed to a stop, uncertain along the rocky spars and tall grasses whether it was better to keep moving or hold his ground. The feline sort was uncommon in his travels, though he found himself cursing for the decision to wander at nightfall across hunting grounds—cougars did like their prowling from on high after all, and his time with Moonspear had not left him unaware of this.
An unwavering gaze scanned over the terrain for a spell; he dare not blink lest he were to miss something. That something came on the heels of him deciding to relent—the flicker of a tail perhaps, bobbing and disappearing into the brush, or maybe yet the ruse of it to play and prey on eyes and tightening grip of unease that conjured it up. He let out a breath quiet and slow, almost hitching when he drew in the scents of the wilderness again.
Perhaps it were nothing at all.
