The dark young woman moved smoothly through what would become her new home. With permission from her mother, she set out from the den they now resided in, at least temporally until her mother decided on a den-site.
Ponderosa found her way to a beautiful forest, although covered in a blanket of white snow, the leaves of the trees were painted in brilliant shades of yellow, red and gold. As she moved under the cover of the treetops, she could not help but admire the morning's sunlight, peeking through the branches. She let out a gasp of wonder. She moved further into the grove, until she reached an opening, the scent of wet dirt and water finding her nose. On the other side of the woodland, it was a large lake she discovered. It wasn't anything like the ocean she grew up near, but it was beautiful.
She approached the bank of the lake and sat beside the icy water's edge. She gazed at the surface, at her reflection. A beautiful girl, growing up. It was in her reflection that she saw her father. A man who would always be held tightly in her heart, who she looked up to, and who was so much more than just a father. Her hero.
She sat here in silence, by the water's edge of Anik Lake, taking in the beauty of her new home.
