Mineral-rich water has created heavy blooms and rich green vegetation

Green was not the colour of a mirage- and yet he doubted it when he first spied it on the horizon. He knew the scent of water was real, and yet as the heat created layers of optical illusions, he realized that he wasn't simply heading toward water- he was heading toward what was perhaps another oasis, though it did not appear from a distance to have trees that might provide shelter.

Nevertheless, the round pools of water were surrounded by a recent burst in growth for the greenery of the area, creating a garden in the middle of the desert. Tumbleweed was impressed that such a thing had happened. The waters smelled safe to drink, though he found the shape of the pools odd. It was as if stars had tumbled from the sky, creating a dappling of craters which had gathered water from a passing storm, perhaps.

Here, he searched for edible plants, and scoured the beds of the water pools for gemstones.

Haizel had followed a butterfly, as he normally did. They were so pretty, you know? Just flapping about without a care in the world and he wished he knew their secrets.

Perhaps he'd never know their names.

But Haizel found himself in a land rather much like the one he called home, except... there was this big ol' pod of pools in this particular part of this area.

Hm.

Oh! And a new friend! His fur bounced as he pranced over. Hi! I'm Haizel! Who are you?

Tumbleweed had just caught sight of the flash of blue he'd been searching for in the water when he heard the repetitive pattern of footfalls. He looked up to see a wolf bounding along, toward him with such familiarity that he felt ashamed to not recognize him. He was greeted with such friendliness he felt sure he'd either been mistaken, or he'd met this wolf before- but had forgotten who it was.

A bit conflicted but still welcoming of the wolf and his joyous energy, Tumbleweed stepped out of the water in time to catch the hazel-eyed wolf's greeting. He felt lightly relieved to realize he wouldn't be put in the awkward position of trying to scramble for the man's name, though the stranger's enthusiasm and trust made him lightly uncomfortable.

"Tumbleweed." He replied quietly. He didn't look back into the pool, not wanting to draw attention to the rocks at the bottom of it in case this wolf was a treasure hunter. He smelled of other wolves, though not the same ones that the miserable coyote had come from.

Haizel was many things, but a man of being able to read the room, he struggled with. It was perhaps only through his cheerful tone that the wolves from his birth pack didn't clamp his muzzle shut when things were serious.

Hiya Tumbleweed! Whatcha... doin'? he asked, sniffing about the pools for more information about them. It's really cool the way the water got here, right? It doesn't smell much like normal rainwater - and the plants seem to be thriving - I must know their secrets. this time, his voice was hushed, hunched over and staring at a flower.

His snout sniffed it curiously.

There was something childlike about Haizel, but it didn't seem to be any sort of disguise. So long as Haizel's friendliness was sincere, Tumbleweed could likely tolerate him, though his enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming. The Sandstrider did his best to remain poised, in spite of how infectious Haizel's spirited nature seemed to be.

He didn't really have the time to answer Haizel's question before the stranger began to remark on the curious nature of the pools. Tumbleweed reflected for a moment, hoping he could come up with a good answer, but in the end, he shrugged. "A mystery," He said. "Plants tend to keep their secrets, from what I've seen," He commented quietly. He knew that plants had secrets that could be revealed, but only when they were pulled apart of consumed.
