Neverwinter Forest let this be the last time

huojin was a little grumpier than usual today. it hadn’t rained the night before, much to his dismay, causing a disappointment which carried over into morning.

he sat pushing pebbles around, mumbling curse words to himself, as he tried to get rid of the bad mood.

"hey cub," ruo said, gently lapping her sons head with her tongue. she had seen him leave the den, but now was over pushing pebbles and mumbling to himself like some sort of weirdo, so she approached, "how's neverwinter?" 

he looked a bit down, and tried to get him talking about anything exciting.

The move was a pleasant change of scenery, the General was truly never at ease on the island anymore. The conversation with Donovan kept playing inside her head and she still harbored resentment toward being left out the loop, especially one that could have brought trouble to their home. Hua seemed to be content looking to others for their assistance and advice, it made Minori wonder why the woman placed her in the role of General. Becoming more reclusive she'd barely left the den she'd taken to since they'd arrived in Neverwinter. Today Takara wasn't feeling well and Minori rose to the occasion heading out into the mainland and was pleased to find that despite the flooding the air was ripe with prey scent. 

Returning with the fat body of a groundhog between her jaws she was passing by when she heard Huojin's voice faintly. Curious and feeling like she should pay her student a visit seeing as she had yet to do anything but nearly scare him off she altered course and headed his way. When she arrived Ruo was there, a woman she didn't know aside from being the boy's mother and she paused hesitating on interrupting the two.

huojin glared at his mother with a firm furrowed brow, then stuck out his tongue to mock her. ruò always seemed to appear at the worst times. sucks, he said. without rain, this place sucked.

then, adding to his bad day, minori decided to stop by. huojin threw his head back to release a very loud sigh, since being annoying was the only thing he thought might get both women to leave him alone.

"yeah, it does." she agreed with a nod, not realizing probably should parent better in that aspect. but it was true, as demonstrated through her own tantrums on the dislike for these woods. her home will always be the coast, even if there was a day yuelong is terminated. she hoped not, however.

"you want to play a game? if you win, i'll do any of your requests." then ruo side-eyed to minori, her sons apparent mentor. they never really talked, more the lion simply telling how it was going to be. she didn't mind.. but at the same time, wasn't sure how to feel lending her cub to a stranger.

"can ask for that lady to play too."

Whatever sucked the two agreed on it and Minori couldn't help the small upward curve of her lips. Then the boy caught sight of her and gave a sigh that was rather unpleasant in nature, leaving her ears to curve backwards. She hadn't thought their first meeting had gone that badly and was a bit taken back, seafoam eyes catching the side glance from the mother as words were whispered in a language she could not grasp. Frowning her eyes narrowed for a second before she turned "I'll find time for our lessons another day Huojin" her words came out without much emotion keeping herself guarded around the woman though she gave a smile in his direction over shoulder and a wag of her tail before trotting off. He was a cute kid even if she'd done something to piss him off. Kids seemed to get pissed off by her a lot. 

really? huojin’s ears perked to stiff peaks, interest immediately filling his mind. what sort of thing could he ask her for, assuming he would win? the possibilities were endless!

minori mumbled something about meeting up with them later, which huojin found strange. did she not like playing, too? it didn’t really matter in the end, since he’d been indifferent about her presence from the start.

his attention shifted back to ruò, who he regarded with a mischievous grin. 玩什么? the lionet asked.

the teacher went off. ruo only shrugged really, as she didn't find her that important to their daily lives. she was a resluse regardless, so most wouldn't be able to find companionship from her. the only one's she really had opened up to was ying, and the lion. however some.. things happened between her lion, and the result was huojin. now it was just awkward.

she rather not think about it.

"depends what you're in the mood for. i'm always up for tag." she had a lot of different games in mind, if the siren had to be honest. though most wouldn't be appropriate to share as a mother, because a lot involved simply stealing from others, or downright annoying them so. 

she definitely knew it would not be wise to tell those games.

huojin didn’t really know what this game was, but he knew that he could learn by playing. okay, he told his mother, then awaited further instruction.

ruo grinned, while standing to take wisk her soon deeper into the forest. the less wolves there were, the easier it was to simply run aimlessly through. perhaps it was the one perk being away from the beach- it was easier to run then on the sand. since the two are coastal wolves, so used to sandy beaches..

they ran with a flow.
