Totoka River everything in its right place

The river kept them watered and fed as they made their way from the mountain to the coast. It was no susbstitute for the ocean; nothing ever could be. But it would suffice to keep their bodies going until their return. They were not far now. Perseus would see his promise through.

The setting sun sent sparks flying across the river, and yet he refused to bring them to a stop for the night. They would travel through the next hour as the Totoka's soft thrum built into a dull roar, its strength aided by the flow of encroaching streams.

As darkness swallowed the pair whole, the coastline came into view.

he stood, chilling waters to his ankles, current gently tugging at his tassels - head raised as he sung the sun to her slumber. not with words, this time, but with barked howls, marrying the pitch of his voice with the melodies sung so often on these shores.

a bark, and another, and a third too, then a howl, sky-high then falling, into the last bark, deep as the earth, leaving room for a repeat.
