At long last...success! A third expedition, this time several miles beyond the land she now laid claim to, had given the Rosing female actual fruit for her labors. A rabbit made plump by the thickets of the rocky bypass dangled limp in her mouth and swung sharply side to side with the high jaunt of her trot; she was exceedingly happy with her catch and the giddiness of it showed in her bouncy gait.
She skirted the nameless strip of land between Duck Lake and Fox's Glad before diving headfirst into the Wapun Meadon...recognizing it as the final landmark before she'd been discovered by her brother and his pack upon her arrival. It had been but a short time since she'd been there but already the grass has grown taller...the tickling of budding flowers against her belly making her plume wag in wistful enjoyment.
Admittedly her shoulder was not completely healed; she found the childish skipping from before was making her more sore than usual and it made her pace slow to what was scarcely more than a crawl. A sigh betrayed her weariness, its sound muffled by the bounty in her mouth, and she took a moment to sit on her haunches and deposit the prize at her feet. In this moment of zen she looked out beyond the vast distance and took in the hints of green bejeweling the hillsides...comforted by the (albeit slow) return of summer and all its promises of tomorrow.
