Her expression falls slightly when she registers Derg's expression, and as he gapes at her she wonders if she's done something wrong. It doesn't strike her as a problem at all; whoever had owned the skull is obviously dead now, so surely they won't mind. She lowers the skull slowly when her companion sits down, carefully placing it in the snow despite her reluctance to part with the prize even for a moment. But before she can ask what's wrong, she hears a murmur from Derg, and then he's rising with a laugh. Relief washes over her, and his suggestion brings a smile to her features.
I wonder if it's even here,She says softly, glancing around the forest as if she might see the skeleton lying atop the snow in plain sight. She knows enough to know that predators and scavengers alike often drag bits and pieces of corpses away, sometimes a short distance and sometimes a very great one — but she sort of hopes they can find the skeleton. She probably can't keep that, but she's definitely keeping the skull. She leans down to grab the skull again and place it against a tree, feeling a little possessive over it, and turns back to Derg with eyes bright.
I don't think it was with the skull. Where should we start looking?
