Ramsay didn't know what to think of all this. By now he'd worked out that the intimacy he'd shared with Parvati was, in fact, how one acquired children. He now had three to contend with, after all. Three children he had never asked for. Three children he had no use for. Three children not unlike Maegi, Euron and him, who had been just as unwanted at birth. Potema had forsaken them and left them to their own devices, dooming them to die if not for the care of their older siblings. He still despised her for it after all this time.

That was why, several days after their birth, he finally worked up the nerve to enter the cavern where Parvati nursed them. Maegi came and went frequently as well, but as he entered and his eyes adjusted to the gloom, it was only Parvati and the three children present. He breathed a quiet sigh of relief. He didn't much feel like sharing his first contact with his offspring with his sister, especially if she was still infested with worms that she risked infecting the newborns with.

Their mother was someone he had shared his body with, but little more. In truth he didn't much care about her, but she had brought his cubs into the world, so he owed her at least the courtesy of checking in. Are you well? he asked, unaware of her weakness and Maegi's role in ensuring the health of the cubs. His eyes went to them next; two dark and one light, almost seeming like formless blobs. Their names? he wondered, believing he had no place in naming these children he had no use for despite the quiet swell of his heart when he laid eyes on them.
