The little girl didn't recoil at the sight of him, nor did she stare at the gaping pieces that were missing and instead gave a warm greeting. It warmed his heart and perhaps gave the aging man some hope for himself in the future. If there was one who didn't mind, surely there were others too.
You're back now, that's what matters.Lost children were, unfortunately, the norm in the wild. Very few returned but this one seemed to be one of the lucky ones. Erzulie and Rosalyn should feel lucky that for that, most would never see their young again, most often presumed dead and remaining that way.
