She watched quietly as Rosalyn departed. Having at last settled among a new family in the moors of Rusalka, the hooded child looked now to her as a provider - everything that a mother should be. So to see her slip beyond the threshold of the den was enough to bring about the soft whimpering of a babe who was quick to deem herself unwanted.
While her memories of the birth-giver were poor, the freshest one was of being left behind with wolves who were strangers. Soon, that too would fade, but for the time being she suffered for it.
Another adult remained, however, but not the one who nursed Regin and her brother. She'd shown her nothing but kindness, however, so the youngster closed to distance between them with every intention of fitting herself into place for a much-needed cuddle.
There was already another tiny body ttucked in close, however, and the girl blinked down at baby Chacal. She'd been taught to be careful with her, to be gentle, yet jealousy roused hot in her veins and she shot Erzulie a pointed stare.
