Perhaps it was out of character for her to assume all hope was lost for him, but after hearing of his misdeeds, seeing his disrespect first-hand — it wasn't hard for her to think this. Only in these situations would she condone cursing, if only to get the point across, not that anyone would catch her speaking unholy curses.
