When he watched Zephyr’s form disappear into the darkness earlier that night, Phillip assured himself he could handle some time spent alone. I must, he thought as he tried to find a comfortable position to rest in. His friend (lover? he’d yet to decide what to call him now) needed some time to himself, and he’d respect that. But no matter how many times he reassured himself that night, he found it difficult to go to sleep again. It just didn’t feel right without Zephyr to keep him warm. Everytime he was moments away from slumber, his eyes would fly open and he’d check the sky for any hint of sunlight. It’d always be pitch black. Exhaustion would get the best of him eventually.

Phillip woke up to the sound of his name, a kiss, and a nuzzle. I’m awake, he whispered. Barely. The warmth was almost enough to put him back to sleep, but he was too happy to see Zephyr to let that happen. Phillip pressed his face against his and smiled.
