While they would need to hunt prey to survive, Lótë had been correct when she'd mentioned that it would be prudent not to over-hunt the herd. And so, knowing that she was an excellent eye, he was happy to have her with him as they tracked the herd down, if not to hunt then at least to observe. Depending on how many calves were expected to drop later in the Spring, they could decide exactly how much this particular family of herbivores could be hunted while still maintaining a healthy balance and not scaring them off. They would be more valuable a resource in the winter, and if they felt less pressured in the Spring, they might hang around longer.
