Part of her balked at the Nereides' treatment of males while another rejoiced in the sense of superiority. She had been a bully as a pup and was still rather domineering by nature. She still needed to figure out how to carve her niche within that dynamic, however.

"Marking, patrolling and exploring," Junior answered flatly. "Trying to find my footing in the pack," she admitted. "Why? What have you been up to?" she questioned in a subtly querulous tone.
