his tasseled coat trapped heat close to his body, and so the bard had little choice than to spend his days resting in the shade, awaiting nightfall when he could roam the shore in search of some meager meal or fresh water.
but he was still terribly bored. sleep wouldn't come, not in this weather, and so the dog'd taken to testing his voice.
vocal warmups, sounds repeated and stretched and condensed, pitched and rumbled. he was doing them then, sat with his back against the blackened trunk of a stubbornly growing sequoia.
"dou - reh - mee - fah - sou - lha - see - dou." he sang, alternating between low and high for each sound.
"dou - see - lha - sou - fah - mee - reh - dou." and his voice descended into as deep a tenor as he could reach.
