he was content to lay in the pile of bodies, limbs intertwined and heart joyful. anaa spoke then, and acrux listened with pointed curiosity. restless days, brothers and sisters, talk of women...and then it clicked. "this is when women become warm," he shared with a questioning tilt of his head, as if asking what he'd stated had been correct.
then mother spoke, and her question resulted in a delighted thumping of his tail against the earth. babies — baby siblings! "i want to be braatax, always," he shared with a glance towards maggak, and then the sleeping rolyane.
it was at the sight of his milk-brother that a wave of uncertainty washed over the boy. "the new brothers and sisters will not have to leave like roly and panuk did, right?" he knew why his brothers had gone back to the shore, he'd understood now that he was older, but that did not ease the displeasure he still felt from being separated from them.
he still thought them brothers, still thought anaa theirs too, still thought the spear their true home. he needed to hear these new siblings would not be sent away. he did not want them if they would not remain.
