Nova Peak past prologue

he woke as a foot pressed down on his face, smoothing out his lax skin in a stretched grimace. 

by the time he tried to bite whatever it was, it was gone. rowdy yawned, aware suddenly that one of his two heat batteries had wandered off. 

not quite old enough yet to know ruckus as another living being, rowdy yawned a second time, nosed for the remaining heat battery, and curled around the form of his other sibling.

hardly several heartbeats later, he was asleep.
