The sharp sulfur scent of the springs dampened the strength of her own heat, just a bit. Blue half-wondered if anyone would notice her here at all. Would that be such a bad thing?
She'd meant to wait for Cobalt, after all.
Instead she led him further from the sea, still cutting a path inland in her search. Maybe it was some fanciful maternal yearning which drove her — the hope that she might find her mother somehow, somewhere, even after all this time. Bit too late for a "birds and bees" talk, but —
who else did a woman, sometimes still girl, turn to when she could find none of her own answers?
Blue settled by one of the pools, contemplating its warmth, contemplating the warmth of life in general. Or rather, the lack.
