Sheepish, his eyes searched for her reaction. He found one that carried no disdain, disgust, nothing like that, and felt relieved. 

He responded with his own kiss—or rather the same kiss, but he continued it, nibbling briefly at her upper lip. He let her continue, tail thumping behind him now. 

”Good. Wouldn’t want ya to be—not actually.”

Here, it was all in good fun. She’d be safe with him. 

But he sensed her demeanor, what she wanted. It wasn’t an explanation of his fantasies. 

His ear flicked against her muzzle, humid breath billowing in and pricking the fur on his nape. He trailed her with his eyes as she retreated. He was almost stunned that she, a perfect beauty, would seek someone like himself out again—but there was no time for that now. 

The old wolf stood, bones stiff and audible as he moved toward her. He let his shoulder rest against her as an eager nose found the base of her tail, nudging gently, asking permission. 

Maybe something less intense this time..
