The three wolves stood abreast, united against the bloodied intruder.
Alone, Moon Runner would not have been able to best the titantic female. As a yearling wolf she might have retreated to protect her life. Yet, she now stood as Wealda — and with that claim came the will to freely bleed in order to defend their home.
But she did not have to face this threat by herself. The bonds between the trio had been already set hard and fast… and not even a request — a single word — was spoken between them! Together, their strength tripled… and that was the power of pack.
It was this dominant front that bested the nerves of the aggressive vagrant. She retreated into the plains beyond.
For a long few minutes Moon Runner stood statuesque. The adrenaline boiled hot in her veins.
Only after a while did her stare break away and turn to Winter Hawk.
Her amber eyes met the wolfish gold of his gaze — and in that moment her spirit saw the name he held for her in his soul… and thought of herself as White Feather.
