The dull roar of the sea slammed angrily into the harsh footing of the store, sending frothy, crystalline droplets flying through the icy air. A slick layer of wet and salt coated the pebbles of the coast, the gloom of the clouds overhead giving way to a sullen, soggy scene. Birds dotted the horizon above the water, dipping and diving towards the cold depths at a chance for food. Their cries of irritation were laced with fading hope, but a shrill note of hysteria was creeping along the edges. A sharp, chilled wind sliced through the air, mixing with the howl of the ocean. It was deafening.
Other than the winged beasts that circled above, the area seemed to be rather devoid of life. The stale scent of other wolves hung in the salty air, but nothing fresh touched the nose of the brute that set foot across the stone laden beach.
His azure orbs scanned the horizon, searching. The area was still new to the wolf, and heavy expectations washed through his mind. He had heard others talk about this land, yet so far, Xephyr remained unimpressed. He had met no one on his travels thus far.. and depending on his mood, that was either good or bad. A twinge of confusion spun through his mind at the thought, but he quickly pushed it aside. Most sane creatures were holed up in weather like this, as it was enough to chill even him to his core. Ice covered the pebbles beneath his paws, and though he was used to frozen wastelands, the dense water from the air was beginning to get to him. He felt as if he was drowning every time he drew in a breath.. though if he could get used to that, everything else would be easy.
With a small twitch of his too large ears, he sat, tail brushing the ground beneath him. He shut his eyes, letting the sounds wash over him.
